Criminal intelligence reports and assessments
The CISC network employs highly skilled analysts across Canada that analyse and produce timely criminal intelligence. The information collected and analyzed through the provincial bureaus is instrumental in the creation of the national intelligence products and services delivered by Central Bureau. Most national reports are only available to Category 1 CISC member agencies.
CISC Central Bureau relies on a criminal intelligence network, in particular the timely criminal intelligence derived from provincial bureaus. This partnership is instrumental in the creation of the national intelligence products and services delivered by Central Bureau. The intelligence products are shared with law enforcement partners to facilitate strategic decision making and operational direction.
National Intelligence Officers' course
CISC sponsors and offers the CISC National Intelligence Officers' course for CISC member agencies at various locations across the country in collaboration with the Provincial Bureaus. The curriculum examines the intelligence cycle and offers a comprehensive breakdown of related processes, such as information gathering, collation and evaluation, criminal analysis, reporting and Internet research. The selection of candidates and the syllabus are coordinated with the assistance of CISC's Provincial Bureaus.
Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs
In 1996, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) developed and implemented a strategy known as the National Strategy to Combat Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG) in Canada. The mandate is to detect, suppress and prevent OMG-related criminal activity in Canada through an integrated, intelligence-led strategic and operational approach. Information sharing, situational and threat assessments, development of best practices, training, law enforcement personnel, public education and awareness and expert witness training are the key components of the National OMG Strategy.
The National Strategy continues to expand with its success and recognizes that the fitting response to disrupting an international criminal network is for law enforcement to work closely together and understand the need to collect and share information.
