Criminal Intelligence Service Prince Edward Island


About Us

Criminal Intelligence Service Prince Edward Island (CISPEI) was established in August 2005. The bureau is integrated with RCMP’s “L” Division Criminal Analysis Section and currently has five member agencies: RCMP “L” Division, Charlottetown City Police, Summerside City Police, Kensington Police and Borden-Carleton Police.

Mandate:

  • To be a strategically focused organization that ensures the timely production and exchange of criminal information and intelligence among provincial bureau members and CISC member agencies
  • To be the provincial centre of excellence in support of law enforcement efforts to detect, reduce, disrupt and prevent organized and serious crime affecting PEI and Canada

Services

CISPEI:

  • performs the “intelligence gathering process” on behalf of member agencies
  • promotes, coordinates, monitors, audits and maintains a repository for criminal intelligence as part of the national CISC system
  • liaises with police agencies and other appropriate agencies in matters of criminal intelligence
  • facilitates training opportunities for member agencies
  • promotes and fosters the integration of intelligence resources and the interaction between law enforcement and the intelligence community
  • increases awareness of the citizens and policy makers in Prince Edward Island by communicating the scope and impact of organized and serious crime
  • prepares and distributes an annual integrated Threat Assessment on organized and serious crime in Prince Edward Island
