From Strategy to Action
Implementing the Strategy Plan
Creating a strategic plan is not enough. CISC’s management team is committed to developing initiatives, action plans, budgets and implementation processes in order to bring the strategies to life.
The key initiative CISC is undertaking to operationalize the Strategic Plan is the implementation of the Balanced Scorecard. The Balanced Scorecard is a tool for measuring our corporate performance as well as for translating strategy into action. The Balanced Scorecard approach will help CISC focus on the key components required to make the Strategic Plan work: clients, internal processes and people. These key components are also found in the Four Pillars of the Strategic Plan. One of the first steps in the Balanced Scorecard process is the development of a Strategy Map. The map provides a comprehensive view of all the elements of CISC’s strategy.
The Strategy Map makes the strategy ‘visible’ and makes a complex whole easier to understand. The map shows not only how all the elements are aligned to meet client needs but also how the individual objectives are linked to each other. This insight helps in determining which objectives are the most strategic and in deciding which initiatives should be of the highest priority. Once the strategy and the linkages among objectives are clearly understood, the Balanced Scorecard framework provides a roadmap to action planning.
Alongside the Strategic Plan, CISC will be implementing its Communications Strategy. Communicating strategically with our clients, partners and stakeholders, externally and internally, is key in helping them understand the direction and objectives of CISC and where their support would be most effective. External and internal strategic communication is also intended to help CISC in responding to the needs of our clients, partners and stakeholders by adjusting our plans and developing strategic initiatives based on their input.
